About

About Archaeogeek was born in 2006 as a place for me to record my thoughts and experiences in using open source technologies, primarily GIS, in archaeology. At the time, and for 5 years after, I worked for Oxford Archaeology, the UK’s largest commercial archaeological unit, at their northern office in Lancaster. In 2011 I began working for Astun Technology, deploying web mapping solutions based on an open source stack, and that’s where I’ve stayed ever since.
